Version 1 · Effective 16 October 2026
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective Date: 01 October 2026 Version: 1.0 Product: ChequePilot Provider: DesignMUSTER Technologies Territory: Worldwide
1. Purpose
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains the rules that apply to cancellations, refunds, subscription renewals, duplicate charges, payment errors, and the ChequePilot 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee.
This Policy forms part of the agreement between the customer and DesignMUSTER Technologies for use of ChequePilot.
2. 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee
ChequePilot provides eligible first-time paid subscribers with a 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee.
An eligible customer may request a refund within seven calendar days from the date of the initial successful payment for the first paid ChequePilot subscription.
The 7-day period begins on the date and time the initial successful payment is confirmed by the applicable payment processor.
3. Eligibility for the 7-Day Guarantee
Subject to applicable law, a refund may be available where:
- The customer is purchasing an eligible paid ChequePilot subscription for the first time
- The refund request is submitted within seven calendar days of the initial successful payment
- The payment has been successfully received
- The account has not been used for fraud or abuse
- The customer has not initiated an unresolved chargeback or payment dispute
- The request is made by the account owner or an authorized representative
- The request complies with this Policy
4. First Paid Subscription
The 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee is intended for the customer's first eligible paid subscription.
It is not intended to provide repeated free trial periods through repeated purchases, cancellations, account creation, workspace creation, or refund requests.
DesignMUSTER Technologies may reject repeated or abusive refund activity to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
5. Refund Request Deadline
A refund request under the 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee must be submitted within seven calendar days of the initial successful payment.
Requests received after the 7-day period may be declined unless:
- Applicable law requires a refund
- A duplicate charge occurred
- An unauthorized or erroneous charge is confirmed
- DesignMUSTER Technologies expressly approves an exception
- Another contractual refund right applies
6. How to Request a Refund
A customer requesting a refund should contact DesignMUSTER Technologies using the official support, billing, or contact information published by ChequePilot.
The request should include sufficient information to identify the transaction, such as:
- Account email address
- Workspace or company name
- Subscription plan
- Payment date
- Transaction or invoice reference, where available
- Reason for the request
Customers should not send full payment-card numbers, security codes, passwords, or other sensitive authentication information by email or support message.
7. Verification
DesignMUSTER Technologies may take reasonable steps to verify:
- The identity of the requester
- Account ownership
- Workspace authority
- Payment details
- Transaction status
- Refund eligibility
A refund may be delayed until reasonable verification is completed.
8. Approved Refunds
Where a refund is approved, DesignMUSTER Technologies will normally initiate the refund to the original payment method used for the transaction.
Where refunding to the original payment method is not technically possible, another reasonable method may be used where legally and operationally permitted.
9. Refund Processing Time
After DesignMUSTER Technologies initiates a refund, the time required for the refunded amount to appear may depend on:
- Payment processor
- Card network
- Bank
- Financial institution
- Customer's country
- Currency
- Payment method
DesignMUSTER Technologies does not control the processing time of banks, card networks, or independent payment processors.
10. Payment Processor Delays
A refund marked as completed or submitted by ChequePilot may take additional time to appear in the customer's bank or card account.
Such delays may be caused by third-party financial institutions and are outside DesignMUSTER Technologies' reasonable control.
11. Currency Conversion
Where the original transaction involved currency conversion, the amount finally received by the customer after a refund may differ from the original local-currency amount because of:
- Exchange-rate changes
- Bank conversion rates
- Card-network rates
- Foreign transaction charges
- Payment-provider conversion
- Other third-party fees
DesignMUSTER Technologies is not responsible for independent currency-conversion differences that it does not receive or control, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Taxes
Taxes will be refunded where required by applicable law and where the relevant amount is recoverable or refundable.
Certain taxes, government charges, duties, or fees may be subject to separate legal or accounting treatment.
13. Third-Party Charges
Some amounts charged by third parties may not be recoverable by DesignMUSTER Technologies.
Subject to applicable law, non-recoverable charges may include:
- Bank fees
- Card-network fees
- Foreign exchange charges
- Government charges
- Taxes not refundable to DesignMUSTER Technologies
- Charges imposed directly by the customer's financial institution
Nothing in this section removes any mandatory refund right provided by applicable law.
14. Cancellation of Subscription
Customers may cancel an auto-renewing paid subscription before the next renewal date.
Cancellation normally prevents future subscription renewals.
Unless otherwise stated, cancellation does not automatically delete the customer's ChequePilot account.
15. Access After Cancellation
Where a paid subscription is cancelled without an immediate refund, paid access may continue until the end of the already-paid billing period, depending on the applicable subscription terms.
After the paid period ends, the account may:
- Move to the Free plan
- Lose access to paid features
- Become subject to lower usage limits
- Be restricted according to the current plan structure
16. Cancellation During the 7-Day Guarantee
Where an eligible customer cancels and requests a refund within the 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee period, DesignMUSTER Technologies may:
- Approve the refund
- End paid access when the refund is processed
- Return the account to the Free plan
- Apply the applicable Free-plan limits
17. Cancellation After the 7-Day Period
Cancellation after the 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee period normally prevents future renewal but does not automatically create a refund for the current or previous billing period.
Refunds after the 7-day period may still be provided where:
- Required by law
- A duplicate payment occurred
- An incorrect charge is confirmed
- DesignMUSTER Technologies expressly approves the refund
- Another applicable contractual right exists
18. Monthly Subscriptions
A monthly subscription continues for the applicable monthly billing period unless cancelled.
If cancelled before the next renewal date, the subscription will normally not renew for the next month.
19. Annual Subscriptions
An annual subscription continues for the applicable annual billing period unless cancelled.
If cancelled before the next annual renewal date, the subscription will normally not renew for another annual period.
Any refund of an annual subscription remains subject to this Policy and applicable law.
20. Automatic Renewal
Where automatic renewal is enabled, ChequePilot may charge the payment method associated with the account at the beginning of each new billing period.
Customers are responsible for cancelling before renewal if they do not wish to continue the subscription.
21. Renewal Charges
A renewal charge is generally not eligible for the first-purchase 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee merely because it is a new billing period.
However, statutory rights, confirmed billing errors, duplicate charges, or expressly approved exceptions remain unaffected.
22. Reminder Notices
Where available, ChequePilot may send subscription, trial, expiry, billing, or renewal reminders.
Failure to receive or read a reminder does not automatically cancel the subscription.
Customers remain responsible for managing their subscription status.
23. Failed Payment
If a subscription payment fails, DesignMUSTER Technologies may:
- Retry payment
- Notify the account owner
- Limit paid functionality
- Suspend paid features
- Downgrade the workspace
- Cancel the subscription
Such actions will be taken according to applicable law and the applicable subscription terms.
24. Duplicate Charges
If a customer believes the same transaction has been charged more than once, the customer should contact DesignMUSTER Technologies promptly.
Where a duplicate charge is confirmed, DesignMUSTER Technologies will take reasonable steps to correct or refund the duplicate transaction.
25. Incorrect Charges
If a customer believes an incorrect amount was charged, the customer should notify DesignMUSTER Technologies as soon as reasonably possible.
DesignMUSTER Technologies may investigate:
- Subscription plan
- Billing interval
- Invoice
- Payment record
- Plan change
- Tax
- Discount
- Promotion
- Payment-provider information
Where an error caused by DesignMUSTER Technologies is confirmed, an appropriate correction or refund will be made where required.
26. Unauthorized Payments
Customers should immediately notify DesignMUSTER Technologies and their payment provider if they believe a payment was unauthorized.
DesignMUSTER Technologies may investigate account and payment records.
Responsibility for unauthorized transactions may depend on:
- Account security
- User authorization
- Payment-provider rules
- Bank rules
- Applicable law
27. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
Before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute, customers are encouraged to contact DesignMUSTER Technologies so that the issue may be investigated and, where appropriate, resolved.
Where a chargeback or payment dispute is opened, DesignMUSTER Technologies may:
- Respond to the payment provider
- Provide transaction records
- Provide account records
- Provide subscription records
- Suspend the related paid service where reasonably necessary
Nothing in this section removes any mandatory legal right to dispute an unauthorized or improper transaction.
28. Fraud and Abuse
The refund process must not be used to obtain repeated free access to paid features.
DesignMUSTER Technologies may investigate and reject refund requests involving suspected:
- Fraud
- Refund abuse
- Repeated account creation
- Repeated workspace creation
- Repeated purchase and refund activity
- Payment abuse
- Chargeback abuse
- Misrepresentation
Any decision will remain subject to applicable law.
29. Account Suspension
A refund is not automatically due merely because an account is suspended for:
- Fraud
- Abuse
- Illegal activity
- Security risk
- Material violation of the Terms of Service
- Unauthorized use
Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
30. Terminated Accounts
Where an account is terminated for a serious violation of the Terms of Service, paid fees may be non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
This does not affect refunds required by mandatory law.
31. Free Plan
The Free plan does not involve a subscription fee and therefore normally has no payment amount to refund.
Any separate paid service connected to a Free account will be handled according to the applicable purchase terms.
32. Trials
Where ChequePilot offers a free or promotional trial, the trial terms shown at the time of activation will apply.
A trial may:
- End automatically
- Convert to a paid plan
- Require payment information
- Require user action
- Be subject to eligibility restrictions
Customers should review the applicable trial terms before activation.
33. Promotional Offers
Promotional plans, coupons, credits, referral rewards, discounts, or special offers may have additional refund restrictions.
Any such restrictions will be displayed where reasonably applicable and remain subject to mandatory law.
34. Credits
Account credits, promotional balances, referral credits, or non-cash benefits generally have no cash value unless otherwise expressly stated or required by law.
35. Plan Upgrades
When upgrading a plan, the customer may be charged according to the pricing and billing treatment shown at the time of the upgrade.
This may include:
- Immediate charge
- Proration
- Credit for unused time
- New billing cycle
Refunds relating to upgrades remain subject to this Policy and applicable law.
36. Plan Downgrades
A downgrade may become effective:
- Immediately
- At the end of the current billing period
- On another date shown during the downgrade process
The applicable behavior will be shown where reasonably possible.
A downgrade does not automatically create a refund for the current billing period.
37. Service Downtime
Temporary Service downtime does not automatically create a refund.
However, DesignMUSTER Technologies may provide:
- Service credits
- Refunds
- Extensions
- Other remedies
where required by law, contract, or an expressly stated service commitment.
38. Feature Changes
ChequePilot may update, improve, replace, or discontinue features from time to time.
A normal product update does not automatically entitle a customer to a refund where the subscription continues to provide the contracted Service.
Mandatory rights remain unaffected.
39. User Configuration and Printing Errors
Refunds are not automatically provided because of user-controlled errors such as:
- Incorrect cheque data
- Incorrect printer setup
- Incorrect page size
- Incorrect template
- Incorrect cheque rotation
- Incorrect X or Y position
- Incorrect calibration
- Incorrect currency
- Incorrect bank selection
- Incorrect payee
- Incorrect amount
- Failure to inspect the physical cheque
Such matters are governed by the Printing & Cheque Use Disclaimer.
40. Third-Party Problems
A refund is not automatically due because of a temporary failure of an independent third party outside DesignMUSTER Technologies' reasonable control, including:
- Internet provider
- Customer hardware
- Printer hardware
- Printer driver
- Customer browser
- Customer operating system
- Bank
- Payment network
- External email service
This does not remove any mandatory legal remedy that applies to the Service provided by DesignMUSTER Technologies.
41. Data Deletion After Cancellation
Cancelling a subscription does not necessarily immediately delete customer data.
Data may continue to be stored according to:
- Privacy Policy
- Retention requirements
- Backup schedules
- Legal obligations
- Account status
Customers should separately request account or data deletion where appropriate.
42. Business Customers
Business customers are responsible for ensuring that persons requesting cancellation or refunds on behalf of an organization have sufficient authority to do so.
DesignMUSTER Technologies may require verification of such authority.
43. Statutory Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Policy removes, limits, or excludes any consumer or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Where applicable mandatory law provides the customer with a refund, cancellation, cooling-off, withdrawal, or other right that is more favorable than this Policy, the mandatory legal right will apply.
44. Worldwide Customers
ChequePilot may serve customers in different countries.
Refund and cancellation rights may differ by jurisdiction.
This Policy applies globally subject to mandatory laws applicable to the particular transaction and customer.
45. Digital Services
ChequePilot is a digital software service.
Certain jurisdictions may have special rules concerning cancellation or withdrawal rights for digital services, particularly after the Service begins.
Where such laws apply, DesignMUSTER Technologies will comply with mandatory legal requirements.
46. No Waiver of Mandatory Rights
No provision of this Policy should be interpreted as requiring a customer to waive a legal right that cannot lawfully be waived.
47. Relationship With Terms of Service
This Policy should be read together with:
- Terms of Service
- Privacy Policy
- Subscription & Billing Policy
- Printing & Cheque Use Disclaimer
If there is a conflict, applicable mandatory law will take priority.
48. Policy Changes
DesignMUSTER Technologies may update this Policy where reasonably necessary because of:
- Product changes
- Subscription changes
- Billing changes
- Payment-provider changes
- Legal requirements
- Regulatory developments
- Fraud-prevention requirements
An updated version will include a new version number or effective date.
49. Existing Transactions
Unless required by law, changes to this Policy will not normally retroactively remove a refund right already available for a completed transaction.
50. Records
DesignMUSTER Technologies may retain records relating to:
- Subscription purchases
- Refund requests
- Refund decisions
- Cancellations
- Payments
- Chargebacks
- Communications
- Policy acceptance
- Fraud investigations
Records may be retained according to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
51. Refund Decision
DesignMUSTER Technologies will assess refund requests reasonably and according to:
- This Policy
- Payment records
- Account information
- Applicable law
- Relevant circumstances
Where required, reasons may be provided for rejecting a refund request.
